Sarasota’s 22nd annual Cine-World Film Festival is scheduled to begin and this year they’re making some changes! They’ll still be exhibiting a wide range of quality international films, but this year they have expanded the festival to ten days and fifty films. In years past, the festival has allowed us to preview American films with A-list actors as well those that have reached high acclaim (Black Swan with Natalie Portman, Everybody’s Fine with Robert DeNiro, Precious with Gabourey Sidibe). The film festival will include every type of project from dramas to documentaries and promises not to disappoint.
Topping the lineup are several eagerly-anticipated films. A Dangerous Method is director David Cronenberg’s look at the tumultuous relationship between Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, and Keira Knightley. Other titles include Jim Loach’s Oranges and Sunshine, Aki Kaurismaki’s Le Havre, and Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin.
This year’s attendees will also be privvy to five special, one-night-only screenings, followed by live audience Q&A’s with the filmmakers. Titles include INTO THE ABYSS with director Werner Herzog, EAST FIFTH BLISS with director/writer Michael Knowles, SEMPER FI: ALWAYS FAITHFUL with director Rachel Libert, ROCKIN’ THE WALL with executive producer Steve Michelson, and A CHANCE TO LIVE with director Mark Reese and producer Gus Mollasis.
The 22nd Annual Cine-World Film Festival starts on November 11, 2011 at 7pm and runs daily with the last day being November 20, at 7pm.
