HeyFla Holiday Gift Drive

HeyFla is Collecting Items for Families in Need

__ __

Orlando, FL, (December 12, 2011) – HeyFla, an online resource for information within and about the state of Florida, is sponsoring a Christmas Drive to benefit the Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families.  HeyFla will be distributing gift boxes in the Metro Orlando to businesses to collect items for less fortunate families this holiday season.  The gift boxes will go out today until December 15, 2011 and will be collected on December 16, 2011 by 3 pm EST.

Piromas, Inc first launched HeyFla.com in October 2004. In June 2011 Bryant Advertising & Marketing acquired HeyFla.com.  Since then the mission of HeyFla has been to inform, excite and enlighten everyone about everything available to them in Florida.

This holiday drive is an effort to collect much-needed items for families who might otherwise have to go without.  The items collected will be delivered to the Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families and distributed to selected families.

Scott Pelley of “60 Minutes” recently returned to central Florida to follow up on his segment documenting the homeless situation here.  It’s startling to know how many families are homeless and either living on the streets or in their cars.  According to the U.S. Census American Survey (2005-2009), 7,012 people reside in Parramore. Eighty-three percent of Parramore children between the ages of 0-17 years of age live below 200 percent of the poverty level.  Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Items should be new and unwrapped.

Suggested Items:

–       Toys for children of all ages

–       Teen items, such as electronics or sporting goods

–       Clothing and undergarments for all age groups

–       Hygiene items (soap, lotion, deodorant, etc.)

–       Baby items (diapers, wipes, bottles, etc.)

–       Gift cards to grocery stores

If you or your business would like to participate and help us collect items for the children and families of central Florida please contact us.
