We tested all the recipes but Tammy’s Baked French Toast had us coming back for more….we had to have another bite everytime we walked by it!  Great recipe Tammy!  Thanks to all who submitted!!

Tammy Winters– This recipe is special because it comes from my grandmother. Whenever we had extended family over for a big breakfast (like on a holiday) she would make this so that we could all eat at the same time (otherwise we would all be waiting for individual pieces of french toast).   We all thought it was a big deal to make so we never really asked her to make it, we just gratefully ate it up when she did.  Then someone finally had the guts to ask for the recipe.  When we realized how easy it was, (Poor Grandma!) we asked for it all the time!  It didnt matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Ingredients
1/3 cup butter (softened not melted)
5 cups cinnamon bread cubes (or raisin bread)
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup brown sugar, total
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt 1/4 cup butter (leaving the rest) in an 8×8 inch baking pan.
2. Line bottom of pan with bread cubes.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt and vanilla.
4. Pour egg mixture over bread. Let stand for 10 minutes.
5. Mix remaining butter and sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon and spread over the top.
6. Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes, until top is golden.
7. If you shake pan and casserole jiggles, bake a little longer. Serve hot with syrup.
