The University of Florida Men’s Track & Field team bring home 3rd consecutive national championship edging out rival Arkansas by 5 points. It is rumored that this win may lead to talks of the gator replacing the Florida Panther as the fastest animal in the state. One thing is for certain is the Gators mean business. When preparation meets opportunity great things happen. Coach Mike Holloway certainly had his team prepared. After the loss of senior Gray Horn during pole vault warm-ups, the Gators responded to their call to action by exactly what they believed they could do, win.
Demps (Winter Garden), a senior, won the 60 in 6.52 seconds. McQuay (Rivera Beach) took the 400 in 45.77, and Craddock won the triple jump at 54 feet, 11 1/2 to seal the team title. Jeremy Postin (Auburndale) and Eddie Lovett (West Palm Beach) both came up big for the Gators as well taking them from fifth to second place with their performances leading in the final events.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will air on Sunday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
